Which processes can I shut down to save power on my laptop?
I use some power intensive applications on my Laptop and want to save as much RAM as possible and extend battery life. What processes do I not need? I do connect to the internet, but generally do not Network unless I want to transfer between my PC. I have already switched to a classic theme.
Programs I use most are 3ds Max 8 and Photoshop CS3, and a lot of times I have to switch between the two.
The background processes do not really consume that much power but they do reduce available RAM. It is the processes under your account name that you can easily turn off in msconfig. Some unnecessary processes would be the auto updaters and multiple anti virus/malware scanners. Limewire, Norton, etc. tend to use up a lot of RAM.
